Half Way There

Hard to believe that we are already halfway through our stay in Spain. These have easily been the quickest two months of our lives! Time sure does fly when you're having fun! Now living in Spain for two months, it truly is starting to feel like home.  After our crazy weekends away, all we want is to come home to our little freezing apartment, and crawl in bed.  Never would I have thought our foreign apartment could become our home!

After two months, it feels different. Walking to the Metro station, going to buy groceries, and going to the gym, it no longer feels "weird". I feel like I belong, like I am one of them. I know my way around, and no longer feel like I am aimlessly walking around the city.  There is a difference between a local walking the streets, and a tourist. I can now tell that difference. They walk different and move different.  Two months in, we don't get nearly as many stares or funky looks. We belong! It is crazy looking back to our first week here, and noticing all of these minor differences. But together these small differences make a MAJOR difference.  It is nice to not feel like a complete outsider, but a part of the community. It is home!

We have found our favorite local spots, that we are regulars at. El Tigre, for instance our "Monterrey" in Madrid. And Dia! Our "Kroger".

We have a routine now, and life just feels normal!

Still can't believe we are here, and getting to do all of these incredible things! But living here has absolutely given me an appreciation of "home", not home in the states, but home here in Madrid! Traveling every weekend sounds fun, and no doubt is a BLAST! But it is exhausting. (Mom, don't know how you do it).  We have an action packed weekend where we are always somewhere new! Which means we spend each hour during the school week catching up on presentations, assignments, and sleep!  I do wish it was more spread out, it is hard to appreciate all of the different places in culture in such a short time. Before we get home from one place, we are already planning the next. It never stops, but I am certainly not complaining. We are living each moment to the fullest, and seeing everything we can see. The more we see, the more we realize how much there is to see! This is a big big world, with so many unique places.  We are so lucky to have already seen so much, and I know there is still so much more to come!

This week was very relaxed, we had a presentation to give on The Acquisition History of Facebook (Dad this is the class that led me to ask you about Protelindo's acquisition History).  We received incredible feedback from the Professor, and did really well! First presentation in the books!

Most of our classes are in English, and Taylor and I are one of the few native English speakers, so it is easy to stand out while giving a presentation. We have certainly gained an appreciation for our language! It is amazing, that our first language, is the one that EVERYONE is striving to know, and learn. Most of our class discussions revolve around business and culture in the United States.  Therefore, both the professors and other students, look to Taylor and I for answers (we are 2 of the 5 Americans at our university).  We are truly lucky to have been born in the nation that everyone turns to for answers! People are constantly asking us questions about politics, business, and language. And it has been really fun to have answers.

This was a wordy post. Mainly for us to look back on, and remember how our opinions and views have changed throughout our time abroad! Thanks for reading.
