The French Riviera
SPRING BREAAAAAKKKKK!!!
We woke up early this morning to catch our flight to Nice, France. We checked into our cute, studio apartment airbnb and were off to the train station to go to Antibes to meet our friends Lauren and Anna who are in the French Riviera for the weekend with a program! After a short 4 euro and 20 minute train ride we arrived! We got off the train and walked by the port towards the ocean, admiring the beauty of all the sailboats and yachts. We continued alone the seaside and found a cute restaurant with delicious crepes and French cider. Anna and Lauren met up with us and after some catching up we went to the market, bought 3 euro bottles of wine, sat on the rocky beach, and enjoyed! We took our train back to Nice and got ready for the night! Anna and Lauren met us at a restaurant near our house for some muscles and fries... the famous food of Nice. After dinner we went back to our airbnb to chill and chat before going out! We headed to old town and partied the night away at Wayne's Bar. After a night full of dancing on the tables... the bar closed at an early 2am! Carol and I parted ways from our friends and headed home. Halfway home we decided to hop in a pedicab and asked him to take us to Mcdonalds! Mcdonalds in Nice is NOT 24 hours so it was closed. So the cute pedicab boy took us to a local late night spot and ordered us chicken wraps! We devoured them on our way home and went right to bed!
Saturday morning we woke up and headed towards the sea for brunch! We had a delicious meal with a beautiful view of the blue Mediterranean Sea! We decided we would head to the infamous Monte Carlo today in Monaco (the second smallest country in the world)! It was a short and scenic train ride there and only.... 3 euros!! On our train ride we passed a beach stop that we decided we would hit up tomorrow for tanning our last day. We hopped off in Monaco and explored the town by foot. We walked by all the yachts, the fancy outdoor shopping mall, and the famous Monte Carlo Casino (which unfortunately because of my ripped jeans I was not allowed in). We hopped back on our short train ride back to Nice and made sure to stop for some gelato before making it home. For dinner we went to the market and bought some meat, cheese, crackers, fresh fruit, and wine! We brought a knife, plate, and blanket from our airbnb and ate on the rocky beach while the sunset! It was a delicious, cheap, and scenic meal! On our way home we stopped for tubs of ice-cream and some popcorn for our movie night featuring "Monte Carlo." After some difficulty working the complex microwave... our last back of popcorn was a success! ... all it took was a plate underneath... WHO KNEW!
Sunday morning Mads woke up early for a run by the beach... unfortunately I didn't make it. We packed up and headed to the train! We grabbed some snacks to enjoy on the beach and arrived at the beautiful stop of Villefranche. We drank some wine, ate our snacks, and soaked up the sun while we watched all the cute french children frolic on the rocky beach and in the ice cold water!!! When 2 o'clock hit it was time to pack up our stuff and head back to our airbnb to get to the airport!
We absolutely loved the French Riviera and all its beauty! We will definitely be back!
... NEXT STOP ROME!!!!
... with the RENTS!
XOXO,
