El CLUUUUUUB

...With intent of meeting up with some friends for drinks and staying out until midnight... we ended up at Joy (a popular club in Madrid) until 5:30am!!!!! After a few glasses of wine at Kenley and Maggie's apartment, we met up with Nicky and his friends at Dubliners, a mock Irish pub where EVERYONE was American! We made so many connections with so many people all across the states... Talk about small world! Then after a few beers Nicky convinced us to go to the club where there were lights, music, dancers, balloons, and much much more. We had a BLAST! After our big night out we slept in until noon... whoopsies. Then we met up with Kenley and Maggie for a BOMB brunch at Musa. We all four split the "Menu del Dia" a thing they do at most restaurants here. We got 4 different appetizer tasters, 4 different entree tasters, and three mini desserts! Then we all walked around a bit and planned some future trips while were here! Flights and Trains are SO cheap! We can head to To...

Segovia!

Off we went on a one night getaway to Segovia, Spain.... but first, we missed our train! All four of us (Kenley, Maggie, Taylor, and I) had the time 10:45 in our heads. Turns out our train was actually at 10:15. Not sure why none of us thought to double check the time on our ticket, but you win some, you lose some. Today we lost 10euro to buy a second train ticket! Not making this mistake again!  We boarded our 30 minute train ride and were on our way. After about 5 minutes in an underground tunnel, we went from rainy, cold Madrid, to a beautiful snowy mountain wonderland (for 2 minutes) and then back under a tunnel until we finally landed in rainy, cold Segovia. The train ride seemed like we were in Narnia, or time traveling. It was crazy to see two completely different climates in a matter of minutes.  We immediately got of our train, boarded the public bus and arrived in Segovia...a quaint Spanish town with a population of 59,000. All four of us were hungry so stopped ...

MADRID - Day 2, 3, 4

Bearings...  CHECK, Metro Cards... CHECK, Gym Membership... CHECK! Classes... kinda check. Starting to get the hang of things around here in Madrid! On day 2 we accidentally slept until 12:30... still getting used to the time change! Then, we met up with Maggie and Kenley and explored around our area for a bit! We live in the "gayborhood" so it's pretty safe! We got our metro cards, checked out our gym (which has a bar and pool on the roof), and went to Market Anton (pictures below). DAY 3 and 4 was orientation at our new school, Universidad de Francisco de Vitoria. We took the metro station to our "private school bus" and on to school we went! It's a little over a hour commute. We had orientation where EVERYONE is from all over and speaks their own beautiful language, Spanish, AND English. Mads was embarrassed by me when we introduced ourselves in Spanish to our group... I think I sound just a little American... okay maybe A LOT. At one point we joi...

SPAIN!!!

Image
Hello! After an empty nine hour Delta flight, we have arrived in Spain! We took a taxi to our new apartment and then struggled up five flights of stairs with all of our luggage. WE LOVE OUR NEW HOME! Absolutely perfect space, so cozy and clean! After scoping out our teeny apartment, we took a long long nap! We had a crazy weekend before our long flight (Hawks game, cousins, Birthday, Falcon's game, Trump) and needed some rest. Once we finally woke up, we Ubered to the "Target" of Spain. Carrefour had everything we needed. Wash cloths were hard to find, but we found something that will work! And we had no idea we needed to weigh our produce with the produce man before going to the check out line...live and learn. And also, the checkout girl thought we were crazy when we asked for plastic bags! I guess we will be bringing our own bag from now on. So we quickly stocked up on all of our essentials and headed back to the apartment to eat and unpack! Next we ate a little ...
